Day 6
July 27, 2020
Indian Rock Shelter to Double Hogpen Gap, Mile 66.6
DID:
Succumbed to instant karma with a two and a half mile road walk.
Waded through endless nettles on overgrown trail…no trail fairies with weed whackers gussying things up for just this one hiker.
Amassed a nice collection of bug bites and maybe a spot of poison ivy.
Hiked in the rain for an hour and discovered my umbrella has a hole in it, which makes it periodically dump water down the back of my shirt.
NOTICED:
Birds: Oven Bird, Kingfisher, Eastern Bluebird, Broad-Winged Hawk
Feral pigs on the trail (people can shoot them any time, any season, so they’re quick to run away, thank God.)
Zero other people on trail today.
That rasping sound a deer makes when startled.
Two black butterflies with polka dotted bodies sucking the juice out of the tiger lillies.
