Hey, Y’all.

Welcome!

I am an artist who hikes. A hiker who arts. A traveller who revels in the journey without undue devotion to the destination. I hike to be somewhere, not to get somewhere. Thanks for joining me on this journey.

Expect reflections on long distance hiking, art-making on trail and off, hiking culture, nature and my undying love for backrests.

BMT Day 8: My Sophie's Choice

Sad way to usher hikers across their first state line.

Day 8, July 29, 2020

Double Spring Gap to Thunder Rock Campground

Mile 93.8

My Sophie’s Choice…

EITHER look at the ground to avoid crushing one of the hundreds of snails curled up on the trail,

OR look up to avoid face-planting into full-fledged and active spider webs.

Sorry, snails.

The best part of the day was discovering HOT SHOWERS at the Thunder Rock Campground on the Ocoee River, where Ralph met me for resupply and brought fluffy towels to go with my shower.

Life is good amongst the spider webs.

And the flowers of the BMT.
