Hey, Y’all.

Welcome to my blog.

Expect reflections on long distance hiking, hiking culture, nature, creativity and my undying love for backrests.

BMT Day 27: The End (of Thing One)

Day 27, Monday, September 28, 2020

Mount Sterling to Big Creek, Northern Terminus of the BMT

Mile 289.7

Miles Hiked: 6.2

And just like that, the BMT was complete.

The trail down from Mt. Sterling winds through a magical, moss-covered fairy land…truly one of the prettiest things I’d seen along all 289.7 miles of the the trail. I lingered, taking photos, letting the overnighters with their chairs and cups and percolators get out in front of me. I wanted to savor the last few miles. Never mind I still had another 250 miles waiting in the form of the AT.

One last river to cross, this one with a bridge.

I’m too often pressing hard on to the next thing that I forget to acknowledge the completion of a goal, the fulfillment of an intention.

Today, I did a thing I set out to do. Then, before turning my attention to the next 250 miles, I stopped and gave myself a “Woo!”

WOOOOOOOO!
