Hey, Y’all.

Welcome to my blog.

Expect reflections on long distance hiking, hiking culture, nature, creativity and my undying love for backrests.

No Room for Hipster Irony

Intentional hiking isn’t hipster.

There’s no room for irony or jadedness or knowing-it-all.  No room for “well,actually...”

No room for trying to look cool or even caring what other people think.

Intentional hiking is pilgrimage.

It’s being willing to look silly in your awe.  And in your learning curve (bear bag hanging!).

Being willing to not know in the face of strange, unfamiliar things.

Being open to all new experiences; to new people (even Republicans); to wonder.

Intentional hiking is a craving to leave behind the familiar in order to sit in discomfort, surrounded by weirdness and scary things.

It’s a craving to experience the world directly.

Are you ready to unapologetically experience the world directly?
